'The Ghost of Nick Drake' from Michael Rattray's release 'Human Life' sees the singer-songwriter push the envelope of his brand of blue pop. Melodic, melancholic and comic, there are nods to Belle and Sebastian in the lo-fi arrangement and confident simplicity of this well-crafted tune. A whisper of Black Eyed Dog makes this both haunting and lyrically tender.
